  • 2020 Brut Rose Sparkling Wine
The base wine for this sparkling is a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. These are two of the three grapes used to make true champagne (the other being Chardonnay).  If the resulting wine was kept off the skins and hence white, it could be called a blanc de noir. However, this wine has a subtle pink hue and a dry Continue Reading...
  • Sparkling Wine – A new dimension of Spiritopia
Earlier this year, we all experienced a lock down that suspended the scurry of everyday life. It was stressful, but I took on a couple of new projects that may have some long-term benefits. I started playing the ukulele. I am still enjoying it, but it may not do much for you! I also starting making sparkling wine. I have Continue Reading...
  • Spiritopia adds new tasting room in Albany
2020 has brought many changes. Even Christmas shopping will be different this year. Most large indoor events are canceled. Part of Spiritopia's solution is to give your more safe ways to shop. We found a great space in the heart of Albany's downtown, right by the carousel and the best restaurants (333 1st Ave W). For the holiday season, we Continue Reading...
  • Second tasting room coming for Spiritopia
Newsflash!  Spiritopia is planning to open a second tasting room, this one in downtown Albany.  Hopefully we will be ready to reveal it on November 5, 2020 - the date of this year's Downtown Unwrapped celebration.  Stay tuned to our Facebook page and this website for more updates....
  • COVID update 8/19/20
The good news: The tasting room is open 12-5 Saturdays and by appt. We are tasting outdoors with masks required (except while sipping), social distancing, contactless payments, and protocols to reduce contact. We also still have free hand sanitizer in 50 ml bottles and quarts($10) and gallons($40) for those who need more. The bad news: Most events are canceled for Continue Reading...
  • Alcohols 1,2,3
***DISCLAIMER*** This is a little bit of a chemistry lesson. Sorry, but there is a need to explain a little bit about alcohols in relation to sanitizer. I will keep it brief, I promise! Alcohol #1 (Methanol) I call methanol "alcohol #1" because it has just one carbon atom. The rest are Hs and Os. The key thing to know about Continue Reading...
  • Hand Sanitizer Update May 2
We've been making sanitizer for a month and a half and, to be honest, it seems longer. It has been a little crazy trying to source the materials, including bottles. We still have 50ml bottles for free at the tasting room and have donated to various first responders and non-profits. More businesses have been needing it so we have been Continue Reading...
  • Hand Sanitizer Update 4/18/20
I guess it's a bad pun to say it is a "fluid" situation with respect to hand sanitizer, but there ya go. Procurement of most ingredients has improved, but supply of little bottles is sketchy and expensive right now. I am making a couple small adjustments in our pricing. This does not affect our free bottles at the distillery tasting Continue Reading...
  • Hand Sanitizer Update #2
We will still be giving out free hand sanitizer at the distillery tasting room tomorrow 3/28 from 12-5pm. With most people staying home, I am allowing an individual to pick up a 2 oz. personal size bottle for each member of their family. Please don't take more than you need so we can protect as many people as possible. If Continue Reading...
  • Spiritopia donates materials to help homeless
Spiritopia is happy to see that Niels Nielsen is making great progress at turning our donated 55 gallon drums and 5 gallon buckets into hand washing stations for homeless folks in our area. In these difficult times it is especially uplifting to see how people channel their energy into helping others and solving problems....
